Genesis 7: A Picture of God’s Full Salvation

There are two steps to God's full salvation: 1) receiving eternal life by believing into Jesus Christ as your savior and 2) being baptized.

We can see both these steps in the story of Noah.

RECEIVING ETERNAL LIFE:

Genesis 7:13, 16 …Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them entered the ark…and Jehovah shut the door behind him.

The ark mentioned in these verses is a type of Christ. In the same way that the ark saved Noah’s family from God’s judgment, our believing into Christ saves us from God’s judgment (John 3:16). We have believed into Christ, and God has “shut the door” behind us, securing our salvation in Christ!

BEING BAPTIZED:

Genesis 7:12, 23 ...Rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights...Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out

The flood waters signify our baptism (1 Peter 3:21). When the flood waters came and destroyed every living thing on the earth, Noah’s family was saved from the corrupted world. When we get baptized, we become identified with the death of Christ on the cross, and we become dead to the world, and the world dead to us (Romans 6:4; Galatians 6:14). We need this second step in our salvation so that we can be freed from all the corrupting things in the world that prevent us from following Christ.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

Both these steps are readily available to us today.  Wherever we are, we can pray, “Lord Jesus, I need you to save me! Cleanse me from all my sins. I believe You rose from the dead. I receive You right now as my Savior and life. Come into me! Fill me with Your life! Lord Jesus, I give myself to You for Your purpose.” By such a simple prayer we can receive eternal life and be saved from God’s judgment.

Once we have believed, we are immediately qualified to receive baptism and be saved from the corrupted world. You don't have to wait! Contact us or other believers you trust for help on being baptized.

Mark 16:16  He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who does not believe shall be condemned.
